Description:

Stream Stewardship Trust funds in the amount of $280,000 were provided to purchase more than 3,600 feet of Labarque Creek adjacent to Young Conservation Area in Jefferson County.  This area has been identified as a Priority One tract for acquisition by the LaBarque Creek Watershed Conservation planning effort.  Some of the species of conservation concern in the Conservation Opportunity Area (COA), which are all sandstone specialists, are rock clubmoss, shining clubmoss, Forbe's saxifrage, partidge berry, silverjaw minnow, Fremont's leather flowerm and state-listed sandstone natural communities.  The total cost of the acquisition is $1.7 million.  Other project partners: Holcim Settlement ($468,000), Forest Legacy ($500,000) and Missouri Department of Conservation ($452,000).
